Happy Thanksgiving! - Join Our Next Ground Brigade 11/29
As Newport Dems, we honor those who have served—and the values they stood for: freedom, community, and care for one another. Many veterans continue to serve long after their military careers end, giving back through mentorship, volunteerism, and leadership in their communities. Yet too many still face challenges like housing insecurity, health issues, and social isolation.
Supporting veterans is more than an act of gratitude—it’s an act of solidarity. It’s how we say thank you not just in words, but through tangible support for those who’ve sacrificed for the common good.
Below are three outstanding organizations doing meaningful work to support veterans in Rhode Island and across the nation.
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island (OSDRI) provides housing, employment, legal, and recovery services to veterans throughout the state, helping them regain stability and independence.
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) offers comprehensive mental health care, job training, and long-term support for post-9/11 veterans and their families.
Team Rubicon mobilizes veterans and first responders for disaster relief and humanitarian aid, transforming the skills of service into service to others.
